    Shere Hite
Gender, sexual violence, and sexual idealism in the world today: the history of sexual stereotypes and gender roles: and the sexualization of globalization and terrorism: These are just some of the topics in this short but wide-ranging portrait of contemporary life. The preeminent writer of the sexual lives of women and men, Shere Hite is a pioneering force as both a feminist and a post-feminist thinker. She is best known for work that has "left an indelible mark on Western civilization" (Reuters), and as a "revolutionary agent of change . . . [whose work] on sexuality, friendship, and love continues to challenge gender stereotypes-and expand the meaning of human'" (Barbara Ehrenreich). Her most famous book is The Hite Report (reissued by Seven Stories Press in 2004), and her latest is The Shere Hite Reader (Seven Stories Press, 2006). Hite is a regular contributor to the Financial Times (United Kingdom), Corriere della Sera (Italy), and El Pas (Spain), among many others. She lives in London.
